THE PERFECT PlAn

Hey, I’m Anthon Chase Johnson and my journey into advertising was a weird one.

Most people go to school, make a portfolio, and then get to work… well, not this guy. In between graduating from my ad program and starting to work, I got diagnosed with cancer. Yeah, I know, everything was going perfectly to plan! So, instead of going to the big city with all my friends, I started to meet with doctor’s and to wear hospital gowns and stuff.

Fast forward, about a year, I recovered and was ready to work, especially because now I had student debt AND hospital debt. I was incredibly fortunate to meet with a small agency in Maryland that wanted to hire me as a senior for a salary that could help me pay off my bills. I didn’t feel like it would be the best place to develop creatively, which is why my portfolio still has some spec work in it, but I really wanted to take care of my debts. So, I did a year there, paid everything off, gave them a huge thank you, and left for New York City in search of a creative agency looking for a creative dude.

I moved in on February 1st, 2020. Just in time for COVID-19. Like I said, everything is going perfectly to plan!
